Frequently Asked Questions

How do I update the firmware on the Polk Magnifi Mini?

To update the firmware on the Polk MagniFi Mini, you must be connected to the Internet via Wi-Fi or a cable using the built-in Ethernet port on the back of the MagniFi Mini (network cable not included). Hardwired connections via Ethernet do not need any additional setup.

If you plan to get updates via WiFi, you will need to download the Google Home app (free from Apple App Store or Google Play Store) and follow the directions to connect the MagniFi to your network. Once it's connected to the Internet, updates will occur automatically overnight.

What is the USB port on the Polk MagniFi Mini used for?

The USB port is for manufacturing purposes only. It cannot be used for firmware updates nor can you play music through it.

Why does the bottom of the Polk MagniFi Mini feel warm to the touch?

The MagniFi Mini is a network active device that includes Google Cast / Google Home. It is constantly searching your Wi-Fi network to remain connected, or to find out if you're trying to stream music or other audio. For that reason, some of the electronics in the sound bar remain active even when it enters "sleep" mode, letting you easily stream music over Wi-Fi when you want to. Note that the warmth you feel will not damage the speaker in any way and passes all Safety and Regulatory requirments.

Why am I hearing sound from the Polk MagniFi Mini and my TV at the same time?

Make sure to turn off your TV's internal speakers to hear sound strictly from the Polk MagniFi Mini.

Will the Polk MagniFi Mini eventually run cooler?

We have found ways to turn off several of the internal electronics in "sleep" mode so that the MagniFi Mini can run cooler. You can look forward to this update with the release of our new OTA software that installs automatically as long as the sound bar is connected to your Wi-Fi network. All OTA updates are pushed overnight.
