The holiday season is well underway, marking it high-time for us to cozy up on the couch with a treasured holiday film. It's not just the magic of the cinema that draws the viewer in - these films boast some of the best soundtracks, all of which deserve to be experienced with premium sonic quality.

A Charlie Brown Christmas 

 Few animated films are as timeless and heartfelt as A Charlie Brown Christmas, featuring Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang facing the holiday season's complexities. It subtly critiques the commercialization of Christmas and praises the spirit of giving while still full of jokes and sight gags. The film's cool-jazz soundtrack by Vince Guaraldi is also responsible for its beloved status. Highlights include "Linus and Lucy," one of the most iconic themes ever, but Guaraldi's inspired takes on Christmas standards like "O Tannenbaum" and "The Christmas Song" are fantastic as well. 

Muppet Christmas Carol 

  Another kids' movie, you ask? Hush. The Muppets are timeless, and transposing the plot of A Christmas Carol to their world works well, with Michael Caine as Scrooge and narrated by a Charles Dickens who looks surprisingly like Gonzo. The soundtrack is in the musical-theater vein, but with a gleeful, absurdist tone, seen in the earnest classic "It Feels Like Christmas." 

Love Actually 

 This ensemble-story holiday romantic comedy is somewhat love-it-or-hate-it, but there's no question it gets plenty of play during the season. Bill Nighy's jaded rocker character is asked to make a seasonal tune he despises, and his hilarious take on "Christmas Is All Around" is worth checking out, even if you're lukewarm on the movie's other storylines. The rest of the soundtrack is a mix of pop and R&B, not all of it holiday-themed, including Otis Redding, Kelly Clarkson, Eva Cassidy, The Pointer Sisters and more.

Scrooged 

 Bill Murray is a national treasure, and Scrooged — due to many factors, including its appeal to people who aren't huge holiday-movie fans — is one of the reasons why. But don’t underestimate its intriguing soundtrack. Annie Lennox and Al Green collaborating to great effect on "Put A Little Love in Your Heart" was the huge hit, and there are other standouts too: Natalie Cole's take on "The Christmas Song" is equal to her father's, Miles Davis takes "We Three Kings" to unique places and Robbie Robertson of The Band's original "Christmas Must Be Tonight" has become a standard for good reason.
